Veteran’s Day is celebrated on the anniversary of the day when the armistice was signed for Second World War. We honor those who have served in the military at the very same time that we celebrate the possibility of peace.

Perhaps home is not a place but simply an irrevocable condition.

How would you describe that condition of being at home?
Whether by fire, flood, eviction or tornado, it is a grievous loss to lose a home. The loss of what is familiar and dear can unmoor us from ourselves, leave us feeling as if our center is gone, that we are drifting, unstuck from a sense of self.
What has helped you find your way back home after a disrupting loss?
The beauty of color can also serve as a distraction from the equally beautiful varieties of pattern and texture. As winter comes on, finding beauty in shades of grey becomes all the more important.
What do you love for its pattern, texture or feel?
“We’re going to be at this,” we say, “until the cows come home.” Cows may come home late in the day, but I assure you they do come home.
What feels like it is taking far too long?
