Perhaps home is not a place but simply an irrevocable condition.
―James Baldwin
How would you describe that condition of being at home?

Being at home can be at times a downer and at others a time of reflection and comfort. I am at home today feeling comfort. Last week, I spent too much time alone and separated. The need to leave and be among a community was overwhelming. I felt blue and alone. Home is marvelous when we have traveled away. Today, the smell of cooking, the rhythm of housework, the music on the radio soothe me.
Finding the stillness within is what I call home. Inner peace in each moment, without focusing on past or future, opens my inner eyes to a life of radiant color that I otherwise cannot see. From this calm place, my eyes are open to the beauty of those around me.
When I am not “at home” within myself, I feel distant within activities…especially during the holidays. All is not lost, however, because each moment contains new hope in the present power of NOW.
