The planets dance a spiral path around the sun as it races across universe. Our DNA codes who we are in its spiraled connection. So many spirals define us, including that reality that we keep circling around to the same life issues, even as we move forward into deeper understandings.
How do you see yourself on a spiral path?
The Jewish festival of Sukkot commemorates the 40 years that the Hebrew people spent wandering in the wilderness. But far from holding a mood of frustration or loss, Sukkot is a joyful celebration, a chance to eat and even sleep in a flimsy construction that lets you see the stars through your roof.
How do you find ways to celebrate when life feels unstable?
“It’s all water under the bridge,” we say, meaning It’s past. I’m over it. And water does keep flowing under the bridge, moving on. But the water doesn’t always move as fast as we or other people think it should. Water, and forgiveness, move at the speed they move.
