  1. I have two candidates for this distinction: First, myself. I like to tell what I think are humorous jokes and riddles; they are often something in jest about a conversation or something else that happens. I laugh and laugh and when I notice some of the others nearby. I wonder why they aren’t laughing too!? Different reasons, different ages, other differences but I like mine! 0ne friend in the same faith group sometimes cracks me up; people think that somberness is a sign of a “good” worshipper; not I!

  2. I have a couple of friends I get together with who I always laugh with. We play games and chat and have fun making each other laugh.

  3. My dad is hilarious in an often dark way– life has often treated him like a laundromat washer treats a stuffed animal. Humor helps him keep going instead of despairing. When he gets on a roll, I can laugh so hard I can’t breathe.

My best friend is funny, not quite as dark, but definitely knows what humor I need in the moment.

My husband and I watch Saturday Night Live (recorded for later), and sometimes old SNL sketches online. There are sketches that years later still make us laugh as hard as they did the first time. Some of our favorites are the “Celebrity Jeopardy” and “Stefon” sketches.

One of my favorite little pick-me-ups is a video on YouTube I’ll watch on my phone. It’s an opera singer who is backstage before the dramatic finale where he dies but first sings a love duet and kisses the girl. He’s wearing his “bloody” shirt, and he’s eating gummy bears, talking to them and making them talk before eating them, being adorably goofy. [Mourir en douceur par Jonas Kaufmann.]
