Figleaf

figleaf - morguefileThe story in Genesis describes how Adam and Eve discovered, after eating the forbidden fruit, that they were naked. And they were ashamed and covered themselves with fig leaves. Which can’t have been comfortable—either the shame or the fig leaves.

When have you discovered a secret that you just as soon would never have known about?

  1. In some old family papers, I discovered one page that released one of my grandfathers of any further legal financial obligation to a named woman in a nearby city. I have also discovered that for a period of time in the household, when my dad was young, a live-in housekeeper was employed. My curiosity is piqued about the “why” for the payment. Was it a charge for the housekeeper’s services or was it for another more personal reason? I’ll never know; there are no living persons who could explain the situation nor will I pursue it through research. Only
my imagination can give credence to one or the other answer.
