  1. I have a fascination with rocks. The uneven textures, the half-hidden shapes that convince me they are parts of fossil shells or bodies delight me by imagining the reasons they are there. Although I am no authority in this field, I do know that glaciers covered the Midwest eons ago, and realize that we are walking on ground that holds such secrets. Of course there are mysteries still, and it is a way that I feel grounded to the earth.
