The Great Work of Love

hands on black - morguefile creative commons“Forgiveness is the name of love practiced among people who love poorly. The hard truth is that all people love poorly. We need to forgive and be forgiven every day, every hour increasingly. That is the great work of love among the fellowship of the weak that is the human family.”

  1. Although I will never really know, I believe that my Dad forgave me for showing him my love “poorly”. The days of patriarchal conditions in the home were more prevalent and I seemed to be determined to do things “my way”. Although he respected this, and I have been able to live my life independently and successfully, I know deep in my heart that during our times together, he would have been happier to have seen me demonstrate my love for him more openly.
