All the Pieces

stone wall - morguefile creative commonsThere is no one right shape of rock to use in building a stone wall. The skill of the builder is in creating the right relationships between all of the varied parts. Perhaps there is no piece of your life that doesn’t belong. Maybe you just haven’t found the right spot for it yet.

What aspect of your life are you having a hard time making fit?

  1. I think the comment is meant to say “perhaps there is A PIECE of your life that doesn’t belong.(?) Question: …”an aspect I am having trouble fitting in?” Well, most people seem to have something that doesn’t coincide with the regular pattern of their lives. Mine is the difficulty I have in planning to be part of so many activities, both political and personal, that I find myself not fitting them in appropriately. Some are left poorly done; others take much more time that I anticipate; some are included because I feel that others need me to be with them; some need my attention, such as health and nutrition issues, that I ignore. So, should I choose which to drop? Ignore? Say “no” to? Or, work harder at being better organized? For me, the question and solution remain unanswered right now.

  2. Yes, many parts of my life are caught between other rocks and a hard place. I don’t like it much, but friction is the answer, the rubbing wears away at things and even knocks off big chunks at times. In the end, some sort of wall is built and much gravel and ruble accumulates at its foot.

    1. David, I appreciate the way you describe this process. Maybe it can be said that no wall (no life) is perfect but it shows its strength even with the rubble at the bottom of it.
