In the Egg

Robin EggsWe think of the point of courage as being the moment when the chick hatches forth from the egg, pushing itself out into a whole new world. But that moment of hatching can’t happen without a long period of incubation and growth that happens quietly inside the shell.

What is quietly incubating inside you, and just needs time to grow?

  1. Having formed a group at our fellowship called the “65ers plus” group, we find that it is often more comfortable to discuss topics “that younger people don’t want to talk about”. One of these is “death”. Some of our people prefer not to discuss: others want to, at a different time. Of course there have been varied opinions but discussions have been fruitful. This is a slow process for us to discuss openly a topic that is so often overlooked. However, it has helped me to think, sometimes continue to discuss and ponder what will always be a mystery to me. It will finally resolve itself, of course. An interesting side note is that a 50 year old friend recently asked me if she and I could discuss “death” sometime. I certainly will do so. Since we are both UUs, it will be interesting to see how our perspectives relate.
