My test of courage comes when I am with some friends whom I listen to who express opinions in such fervent ways that I think there is no way that they are going to listen to any comments from me. I try to use non accusatory statements such as “I think that….”, I have read that….” but in these instances, it doesn’t result in mutual dialogue. I am considering leaving these friendships which are longstanding since I find that it is a very disturbing part of my life now. I would rather have courage to stay involved with these friends by listening to them but I don’t want to have it continue as a monologue from either of them.
