Across the ages we humans have loved to capture our own images, to paint them on walls or vases or canvass, or to preserve our faces on film or digital media. We want to hold the moment, to be able to look back at ourselves and to have those who come after us hold our memories.
What family pictures do you particularly treasure?

Reflecting on this, I am not super keen on my family photos taken with my parents and/ or other relatives. However, I love and treasure the photos of my kids. The addition of two grand daughters make them even more special. Often, these photos can even move me to tears!
I have very few family connections now and born an only child, never married, without children I rely on several cousins and their children to be my current biological family. I have always lived my life by making many friends, some with their own families, as “my world family”.
Perhaps my favorite “family” photo that I retain is of my dog, Freckles, that I had as a constant companion when I was in elementary through high school. My parents later kept Freckles until he died some years later.
Pictures of my mother from the 30s. Not sure why. She was very beautiful and the style of the day made her seem even more so, even exotic.
