“March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb,” says the old saying applicable to many places where it is now spring. We are not ruled by climate, and can choose gentleness at every point in the year.
Holi is a Hindu festival celebrated at the beginning of spring. It is known as the festival of colors. It is a day for merriment and laughter, and also for the repair of broken relationships.
In the Christian Scriptures, Palm Sunday celebrates the return of Jesus to Jerusalem. The people, it is said, laid palm fronds before him, and it is the beginning of the holiest week of the Christian calendar.
What do you need to welcome the return of in your life?
The Jewish holiday of Passover commemorates the liberation of the ancient Hebrew people from slavery. The story is retold to inspire compassion, to remember and honor ancestors, and to share a common history.
Each spring, I plant seeds and prepare them for my garden. We tend them carefully–keeping them warm and watered–and watch them sprout with amazement. And then, we tenderly and lovingly carry them to the garden.
