What do you pledge your allegiance to?
Ducklings stay safe because although they are ready to be up and moving within moments of hatching, they are born with the instinct to follow mom, trailing neatly behind as she travels. Being a leader is great, but sometimes the wisest course is to follow someone who knows where they are going.
Who do you trust to lead you in the right direction?
All through that long ticking up toward the top of the ride you know it is coming—the rush and the swoop that is your reward for laboring up the hill. The vacation after months of hard work. The publication of the words you’ve struggled over. The performance of what you’ve been rehearsing for hours on end.
How has your labor allowed you to enjoy the downhill slope?
Most of us can only imagine what it would be like to soar like a hawk, carried by nothing more than air. It turns out that you can only get to that peaceful place of floating by literally jumping off a cliff.
What kind of cliffs have you chosen to jump off, trusting that the experience will be worth it?
