On June 19^th, 1865, union soldiers informed the slaves of Galveston, Texas that they were free—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had actually freed them.

What overdue piece of knowledge would help to liberate you?

It never occurs to babies that they might be dropped, that there is any risk at all in being lifted or tossed or flown through the air in loving arms. They just enjoy the sensation of flight, and the light in the eyes of the one who flies them.

In what situations can you relax into a place of absolute trust, knowing that you are ultimately safe?

Sure, the lifeguards on duty will keep an eye out to see if anyone is drowning. But the one who looks really intent on watching is the lady who is studying the beach. And really, doesn’t someone need to be on the lookout to check for sunscreen, snacks, and pails?

What do you keep an eye out for on the behalf of others?

Sometimes like takes us a wild bull ride, and it’s all we can do to hang on through the jolting changes. But face it, sometimes we go looking for a bit of a crisis where there doesn’t actually have to be one, even if it’s only arguing with foolish people on the internet.

What gets you riled up?
