We surround prisons with the fiercest of defenses, so that no one can escape. But wouldn’t it be great if we had a system that was actually designed to help people escape the circumstances of life and habits of mind that landed them in prison in the first place?

Our world is so big, it’s hard to imagine how a plane trip, a hamburger or a couple extra degrees on the thermostat could affect animals (or people) half a world away. But we not only all breathe the same air, we all share the same atmosphere as it warms. We are all of us on thin ice.
What distant connections affect your daily choices
One of the most straightforward understandings of justice is equality. Everyone is treated the same, with the same rights and privileges. Simple, really.
When have you encountered a situation when it was not simple at all to decide what was just?
