No two people take exactly the same thing away from any piece of writing. Perhaps the best we can hope for is to be on the same page, to look together at something so that we can share our differing insights.

What is a subject you would like to examine closely with someone who might see it differently?

Justice for All

The US pledge of allegiance promises “liberty and justice” for all. Then again, it also describes the nation as “indivisible,” when it feels pretty darn divided. But maybe it’s helpful to articulate our ideals, even when they don’t conform to reality.
