What has left you gobsmacked at its amazing beauty?

Even though I’d seen them on TV and in pictures, I was completely unprepared for how brilliant the chandeliers at the Metropolitan Opera are. I stared at the ceiling a lot on my visit.
Their signature “sputnik” design was sort of a fluke. The architect spilled white ink on his rendering, and drew lines out from the splotches, to indicate light shining from what were presumably typical chandeliers. Someone saw the drawing and said that these new modern chandeliers were fantastic. So they became new modern “sputnik” chandeliers.
