Practicing Beauty

“A [person] should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of [their] life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.”
― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

What regular practice do you have to bring beauty into your life?

  1. Pretty much what Goethe said. I listen to music daily, read (not necessarily poetry) something of beauty, like the Daily Compass or UCC Daily Devotionals, and I have decorated my walls with pictures (including one of Goethe).
If I get too busy (mentally, spiritually, as well as physically) to notice the beauty around me, there is one thing I am sure to stop and look at several times a day: a large Van Gogh poster on my bathroom wall.
