Money

Money is a fiction—a common understanding we agree to share about bits of metal and paper or numbers on a computer—and yet it is the thing that takes of the greatest part of most people’s time and attention.

In what area of your life does that fiction of money feel most urgent and real?

  1. Regarding the use of symbols, such as currency coins and paper, I sometimes stop to consider what I could DO for an organization rather than giving it money. Lately, in the present political situation, I have been thinking that perhaps a “weapon” against lack of support by that entity, we, as citizens, should “revolt” and develop stronger voluntary organizations to do more of the necessary work. I know that we ARE doing this but maybe more will show the rest that the needs are right there under our noses. MY, that sounds preachy. So be it…
