Chinese New Year

dragon-1621805_1920The dragon dances at New Year’s to bring good luck to the community, lending its fierce benevolence to the year to come.

What blessing do you wish for your community for the coming year?

  1. Jefferson City MO is in the unique situation that after the Civil War, six Black Union Soldiers established an Historical Black College here in an almost White conservative (may I say it?) community of very traditional citizens. (Added note is that MO was a Southern state but during the War became a combination of Confederate and Union persuasion. Therefore, for a long time until ’54, Whites could not attend Lincoln University, JC. MO. This has changed but the majority of the students are still Black. One of the goals now is to hire more Black faculty. In addition, my specific wish is that there continue to be more understanding and compatibility among all of our citizens in JC during the coming year.

  2. My personal concern is for my community, which consists of post-war houses can be maintained and senior citizens, such as myself, can remain in our homes.
My larger concern is for my country, the USA, which is so divided at this time and that division is spiraling globally.
