Armistice Day/Veterans Day

armistice-poppiesIn Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
—John McCrae

Today, how will you remember and honor those who have sacrificed in military service?

  1. I will work for peace, as abstract that may sound. Not without honoring those who put themselves in front of someone’s else gun, I will try to convince as many as I can that war is not the answer. We as humans have the ability to use reason and that is what I will search for and push for so that guns will not be used to solve the conflicts that are bound to come. Wishful thinking, you say? Yes, but wishes do come true.
