Even though I now cook my meals with great abandon and randomness, I sometimes find that the blend of leftovers that I’ve used has made for a surprisingly delicious treat. How did I do that? It depends on what is available and how much energy I have at the time. I am no longer a recipe user; it is better to use my intuition even though sometimes it steers me into a strange direction. For guests, I do resort to some tried and true dishes or occasionally use a cook book to try out some new dish. So far, no major failures. Oh, I forgot! Once in our Bake Day Group, where we made breads of all kinds, I tried “Baps”. using a friend’s recipe. I used ALL rye flour instead of 1/2 white and1/2 rye. They were so hard that even the birds out in the yard refused them!
