Mother’s Day

mom-pixabay cc0Many of our deepest lessons—positive and negative—we learn from our mothers, who create much of the foundation of how we understand the world.

What lessons about justice did you learn from your mother, or a mother figure

  1. I don’t think I learned anything about justice from my mother, but I learned something about censorship and openmindedness from her. In those days for a child to get a book from the neighboring lending library, you needed a parent’s permission. I wanted to read “Foxes of Harrow” which was racy in its day. She came with me to the bookstore and authorized it and, in fact, my parents’ huge library was always open to me. I have the same 8-foot bookcase and it’s still full. First thing I joined as an adult was the ACLU.
