Secrets are tricky things: I remember that as a child, a school friend would say “Never,ever tell, OK?” and I fully expected that I would never utter any of the conversation. Later, when I found that the message had reached all around, I realized that secrets don’t remain that. Now, as an adult, I usually tell the secret giver that I will do my best that probably it will remain a secret but can’t confidently say so. Depending on the worth of the secret, I try to determine what I should do, but sometimes will disclose it to another mutual friend whom we both know, especially if it’s a medical or social problem.
