I had a friend who died. Over some years our relationship had been a rocky one; many times I had said the relationship was over but regardless of this, I continued to care for him through his last illness. When his final fall took him to a hospital, during that time and since, I have come to understand that what I saw as a mistake on my part became instead something I have never regretted.
