Holocaust Remembrance Day

Holocaust RemembranceYom HaShoah is a solemn remembrance of the millions of lives lost in the Holocaust—entire communities and a whole way of life stolen forever. It hurts to remember such devastation, whether your family was associated with the oppressors or the oppressed. But building a new way demands rigorous attention to how we got where we are.

What from your personal or family history warrants your rigorous attention?

  1. Having been afforded a series of higher education experiences has affected my lifetime in many ways. I think of the fact that my parents, both intelligent and successful without that advantage, instilled in me the realization that profit from advanced study and use of it in my work and leisure choices would only be accomplished if I had those educational opportunities. Life opens up to someone who has been able to avail oneself of opportunities that allow for an unending informed curiosity about life. I hope I continue to be curious all of my life.
