How has an act of courage expanded your life?

Today marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, the moment when light and dark are perfectly in balance. However, it turns out that most people prefer more light, and less balance, so the start of spring can be a frustrating time of “almost, but not yet.”

What can’t come soon enough for you?

When Moses encounters God in the form of a burning bush, the first thing the Holy says to him, oddly enough, is “Take off your shoes.” Take off your shoes, you are standing on holy ground. Of course, the ground you stand on everywhere is holy.

What could you take off or let go of to deepen your connection with the Holy?

What does it take to trust that seeming emptiness will hold you up, to ride on thin air? You need strong wings. Which, it turns out, you can only get if you are willing to launch yourself into the emptiness.

When have you launched yourself into the unknown and found you could fly?

Even a cursory look at the history of the Irish people will tell you that the luck of the Irish is very bad luck indeed. But when you can take pride and joy in who you are, in spite of whatever comes, then you have created your own kind of luck.
