Letting Go

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything— anger, anxiety, or possessions—we cannot be free.”
―Thich Nhat Hanh

How have you found freedom in letting go?

  1. Usually the freedom for me comes with better health. When I am holding on to grief, disappointment or other stessors, my stomach reacts and I am nervous or anxious a lot. This becomes a cycle. Through meditation, being out in nature, deep breathing and relaxation techniques, I can live more in the moment. I can be more free to accept what the day has to offer and what I can do to make a difference.

  2. There is an issue passed Tuesday by the legislature in the state of Oklahoma that provides for horse slaughtering. I have worried and fretted and thought about this for many, many days and nights. I do not have facts (other than what I read in the newspaper) as I am not a farmer/rancher/horse fancier. So I have had to let it go. I did call the governor’s office to ask her to be courageous and veto the legislation. It took me quite a while to get to the let it go stage. I am proud that I made the call to the governor to express my opinion – not that it will affect her decision.
