The Prayer of Nature

“Why must people kneel down to pray? If I really wanted to pray I’ll tell you what I’d do. I’d go out into a great big field all alone or in the deep, deep woods and I’d look up into the sky—up—up—up—into that lovely blue sky that looks as if there was no end to its blueness. And then I’d just feel a prayer.”
―L.M. Montgomery

What kinds of moments feel to you like prayer? What settings draw you into a sense of prayer?

  1. I feel the strongest connection to the Divine when I gaze at my lit chalice, sitting quietly and opening myself up. Sometimes I also feel it when I’m looking at the stars or performing music.

  2. I feel closer to a higher spirit when I’m clinging to the earth: hugging a redwood or burying my fingers and toes in the sand.

  3. What kinds of moments feel to you like prayer? What settings draw you into a sense of prayer?…
The Goddess within, around, and through me — everything I think, say, or do is an act of prayer.

  4. I feel a connection when during a walk I come across a grandiose tree full of life and proud of its long strong history..
