A Big Mouth

A Big MouthHas anyone ever told you that you have a big mouth? Certainly there are times when it’s best if we manage to hold our tongues. But change in the world happens largely because of the people who are willing to open their mouths, and keep opening them, until the world listens to what they have to say.

When have you been proud to open your mouth and speak your truth?

  1. As Unitarian Universalists, we generally seem to be able to agree and to disagree readily. There have been times at our annual meetings of the fellowship that, when a vote is taken, I am one or one of two who vote against a proposal. I don’t mind; others can see what I believe and that’s important to me. Since we think of ourselves as developing our own spiritual systems, it is important that I can express my own responses. When the fellowship chooses to back a proposal as a group, I find it difficult to accept but there are times when I must do it and remain a member of the fellowship.
