Giant sequoias are so tall that the water they take in through their roots can’t travel all the way to the upper branches of the trees. And so they depend on moisture from fog in their upper reaches as well as water from below. Consider that the next time someone accuses you of having your head in the clouds!

When have you been grateful for that something didn’t happen to you?
It certainly would be a miracle to find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. But it might be just as much of a miracle to find the beauty of green hills and trees. The value of a gift lies in the gratitude of the recipient.

What do you remember as miraculous from your childhood?
Sometimes the most beautiful way forward is into an unknown land. Given that we cannot predict the future, it turns out that we are always moving into an unknown land.
