You might think of a bridge as a road or walkway over the top of a river, that allows you to get safely from one side to the other. But for a fish, a bridge is an awning, a means of providing shade as you loiter comfortably in the water.

Face it, in spite of your best efforts some days are going to be bad hair days, when things just go awry. Some days not only are you not going to be the graceful swan, you won’t even make it to a respectable version of a goose. Some days are like that.

How do you experience or anticipate retirement?
Any moment now a breeze or a child will come along and the dandelion puffball will be flying everywhere, hundreds of tiny parachutes dropping seeds in all directions. But not yet.
What in your life might change shape at any moment?
Some people, we say, have “a green thumb,” a way with nurturing plants, while others do not. It turns out that mostly what it takes to have a green thumb is the willingness to put in the effort, the dedication to learn what each plant needs and then provide it.
