In what ways have you resisted your government?
The US pledge of allegiance promises “liberty and justice” for all. Then again, it also describes the nation as “indivisible,” when it feels pretty darn divided. But maybe it’s helpful to articulate our ideals, even when they don’t conform to reality.
What ideal, whether you see it in the real world or not, do you pledge your allegiance to?
Churches have traditionally had bell towers, and the ability to sound out those bells across the town. Similarly, in the Muslim tradition the call to prayer rings out across the entire community five times a day. Religion, it turns out, has been taking over the airwaves for a very long time.
How are you exposed to religion without seeking it out?
