Down and Dirty

Thomas Edison said that “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.” Malcolm Gladwell claims that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to gain true mastery of a skill. Creative genius is great, but it rarely turns into anything notable without a whole lot of hard work.

Any work of art begins with an idea, but the idea unfolds in unpredictable ways as the project moves along. Often, it is difficult to know when something is done.

What part of your life is currently under creative exploration?

Gilded

Most of us present an image to the world that is glossier than what we feel inside. Sometimes that goes smoothly, but sometimes the need to keep up a shiny exterior image feels gloppy and awkward, a heavy coating over our true self.
