An infinity of shapes are inherent in the clay—and if you don’t like what you get you can always mush it up and start again. The clay only becomes rigid and fixed once it is fired.  That, of course, is the point at which it becomes useful.

Any personal act of creation happens in the context of all that has gone before. No idea or craft or skill or technique exists in a vacuum. The only way to create is together with those who have gone before us and those who surround us.

Whose creations have particularly inspired your own?

Culinary Creation

We used to say that humans were the only animal to make tools, but that turns out to be flat-out wrong. It would be misguided to say that we are the only beings to make art—don’t whales create songs? We are, however, the only animal to have figured out the glories of cooking. Go, humans!

How do you express your creativity through food?

A Miracle

It kind of seems like a miracle—that one can make warm, wearable art with intricate, beautiful patterns, just with some string and a couple of sticks.
