Still Small Voice

Today’s mediation is from Rev. Jan Taddeo. We invite you to center yourself on your breath and read it a few times.

Here’s an adage I’ve always liked:

Don’t just do something, stand there.
Stand in the surf, or sit on a rock, or lay your
body across the earthy loam…and be quiet.
Very quiet.
Do you hear it? That still small voice, the
echo of your soul, reverberating with the call
to your own true self to emerge.
Then the calm within becomes the calm without.
The storm blows over, the sun recovers its position of strength,
And that glorious symbol of hope and unity emerges across the sky.

Aggression

“Every act of creation is an act of aggression. To plant a garden, you must dig out the weeds, crush the snails, thin the seedlings as they reach towards the light. To write a book, you must destroy draft after draft of your own work, cutting apart paragraphs and striking out words and sentences. Creation postulates change; and any change destroys what went before.”
-Starhawk, from The Spiral Dance

What do you have to get rid of in order to make something new today?

Yes

“i thank You God for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes”
-e e cummings

What can you say yes to today that will make the day a most amazing one?

Inner Light

“You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hid.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a bushel [basket], but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  Let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works….” (Matthew 5:14-16)

How can you let the light within you shine to the world today?

Becoming

Process theology teaches us that all of nature—all beings and things in the Universe—is composed of creative events—constant new beginnings as each being encounters newness and becomes something new. Creativity, therefore, is our ultimate purpose and our inescapable destiny.

Notice creative events in your day. Notice how things you take in change you and how you change things around you.
