Forge

The heat, the hammer, the anvil, the steam, the sweat, the glow. Metal is forged into useful and beautiful objects by careful application of force and intense heat.

How has your life been made more beautiful in times of intensity?

Mosaic

“Unitarian Universalists are mosaic makers. We are a people who bring together the broken pieces of our histories and the shining pieces of our seeking and, piece by piece, create a mosaic religion.” – Rev. Marcus Hartlief

What is the broken piece of yourself that you bring to the mosaic beauty of community today?

Rhythm

“Do not fear agitation, for agitation is the rhythm of life itself; to be put into motion, to be stirred” -Rev. Tania Márquez

Feel some rhythm today. Sense the beat of a drum in some music–whether or not you can hear it. Move your body in time to it. Let yourself be agitated.

Form

A bar of clay given to a child has a particular form, but where it ends up is anybody’s guess. Imagination becomes tangible as hands mold the clay.

How can you open yourself to being molded by things greater than yourself today? What form will your spirit end up in?

First Lines

Sometimes, the hardest lines to write are the first ones–there is so much pressure on those first few words to bear the weight of everything that follows them. Sometimes, it is helpful just to get something down to take that pressure off of us.

Consider doing some writing today–make it a stream of consciousness that flows from deep within you. What do you notice in what you’ve written?
