“Nothing is only one color,” my mother, an art teacher, frequently reminded me as I learned to draw. We blend and mix colors to create the infinite shades that are present in the world. Similarly, nothing we encounter is as simple as we first think it is–we blend ideas and perspectives to understand how complex it really is.
