Perspective

From space, our entire planet is a tiny blue-green marble. All of human life that exists, and all of human life that has ever existed, and all of the life that we are aware of existing, has existed on that marble or in the space just around it. From afar, we are reminded of the profound connection we have to our planet and its beings.

How can you shift your perspective to see something differently today?

Beauty

“You are beautiful; every part of you beautiful just the way you are
You do not need to change anything about yourself to be welcome here:
Your skin, your hair, your belly, your limbs, your face—
all beautiful just the way they are
You are extraordinary”
– Rev. Sharon Wylie

What can you do to understand yourself as beautiful today?

New Day

It’s been a long dark night
And I’ve been a waitin’ for the morning
It’s been a long hard fight
But I see a brand new day a dawning
-Dolly Parton, “Light of a Clear Blue Morning”

What is dawning new in your life? How can you make it happen more clearly?

Hatching

Baby birds have a special tooth for the purposes of cracking their shells from within. Their muscles also develop in such a way to help propel their head towards the shell to crack it open. From inside the egg, they communicate with their mothers, telling them which way the egg needs to face in the nest for the bird to come out right.

From what do you need to emerge today? How can you signal to others around you the ways they can help you do this?

Nebula

“Let us pray to the God who holds us in the hollow of his hands — to the God who holds us in the curve of her arms — to the God whose flesh is the flesh of hills and hummingbirds and angleworms — whose skin is the color of an old black woman and a young white man, and the color of the leopard and the grizzly bear and the green grass snake — whose hair is like the aurora borealis, rainbows, nebulae, waterfalls, and a spider’s web — whose eyes sometime shine like the evening star, and then like fireflies, and then again like an open wound — whose touch is both the touch of life and the touch of death — and whose name is everyone’s, but mostly mine. And what shall we pray? Let us say, ‘Thank you.’” – Rev. Max A. Coots
