Life persists, even in the bombed-out rubble, after the hurricane, in the midst of betrayal or illness or loss. Always something manages to grow and thrive and bring a shocking beauty to the devastated scene.
When have you found beauty or new life in the midst of destruction?
Some days it feels like everything is moving at top speed, as if you are dashing around obstacles at the edge of crashing, avoiding disaster by the narrowest of margins while you madly rush toward the finish line. Sometimes this is exhausting; sometimes it’s truly exhilarating.
On those mad-dash days, what helps you keep some semblance of control?
As the sun rises over the horizon, a new day arrives, perfect and shining. It won’t be perfect for long, but it won’t lose that possibility that something new and precious will arrive.
What possibility do you hope will become real today?
There are people in the world who are willing to go to great, even dangerous, lengths to provide us all with a clearer view of the world—who strip away the grime of old assumptions and prejudices, who clarify important facts, who give us the opportunity to see a bit more of the world as it really is.
Who or what has given you a clearer picture of some important view on the world?
