The refrain “This land is my land, this land is your land” sounds so good in the folk song, but in the case of Israel and Palestine it’s not an agreement, but an argument. A really complicated argument with a very long history and no clear solution.
How have you sought justice in a situation where there was no right answer?
It’s the job of the referee to know the rules of the game, and to make sure that everybody plays by those rules. There’s many a work place, marriage or community that could benefit from having a referee on board.

When have you been brought up by being on the receiving end of justice?
We surround prisons with the fiercest of defenses, so that no one can escape. But wouldn’t it be great if we had a system that was actually designed to help people escape the circumstances of life and habits of mind that landed them in prison in the first place?
How would you change the justice system to make it more truly just?
Our world is so big, it’s hard to imagine how a plane trip, a hamburger or a couple extra degrees on the thermostat could affect animals (or people) half a world away. But we not only all breathe the same air, we all share the same atmosphere as it warms. We are all of us on thin ice.
