Whether it’s a classic snowman or a fancy robot, building something out of snow is a pure labor of love, done for the act of creation itself, since nothing made of snow can last.
What do you create simply for the act of creation?
In the Jewish calendar Tu B’Shevat marks the new year for trees (as opposed to the new year for the universe/calendar, which happens in the fall at Rosh Hashana). Why have a new year for trees at a time when you couldn’t possibly hope for blossoms? Perhaps because the new year happens when things are very first in bud, not when they start to unfold.
What in your life in is bud?
Responsibilities, worries, tasks needing to be done, all accumulate like snowfall—sometimes one little flake at a time and sometimes in what feels like a great blizzard.
In those moments when it feels like you are carrying as much as you can hold, what helps you to lighten the load, or at least find some serenity with carrying it?
