Sunrise/Sunset

Without information on whether we are looking east or west, there’s no way to know whether we are looking at a sunrise or a sunset. It turns out that when things change in our lives we have no more idea in the moment whether we are looking at approaching night or a coming dawn.

When has a change in your life turned out far better—or far worse—than you anticipated?

Snowflake

It’s really true that no two snowflakes are alike—at least so far as we know. Sometimes math and miracles line up.

What is one thing you cherish in a friend because it is different from you?

Earth and Sky

Giant sequoias are so tall that the water they take in through their roots can’t travel all the way to the upper branches of the trees. And so they depend on moisture from fog in their upper reaches as well as water from below. Consider that the next time someone accuses you of having your head in the clouds!

What sustains you that other people might not recognize as important?

Reprieve

“It was possible that a miracle was not something that happened to you, but rather something that didn’t.”  ―Jodi Picoult

When have you been grateful for that something didn’t happen to you?

A Pot of Green

It certainly would be a miracle to find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. But it might be just as much of a miracle to find the beauty of green hills and trees. The value of a gift lies in the gratitude of the recipient.

What have you been both surprised and grateful to receive?
