In the Wrong

“A man should never be ashamed to own that he has been in the wrong, which is but saying in other words that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.”
― Alexander Pope

What have you learned from being in the wrong?

Washing Feet

The Christian scriptures describe Jesus washing the feet of his disciples during his final week. The symbolism is clear—no one, however exalted, is above the nitty gritty work of kindness to our neighbors. And no one, however grungy they might be, is below deserving that kindness.

What unglamorous acts of kindness do you offer?

This Quest

“The road must be trod, but it will be very hard. And neither strength nor wisdom will carry us far upon it. This quest may be attempted by the weak with as much hope as the strong. Yet it is oft the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world: Small hands do them because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien

What example of “small hands” moving the wheels of the world inspires you?

Three Precious Things

“I have three precious things which I hold fast and prize. The first is gentleness; the second is frugality; the third is humility, which keeps me from putting myself before others. Be gentle and you can be bold; be frugal and you can be liberal; avoid putting yourself before others and you can become a leader.”
― Lao Tzu
