Form

A bar of clay given to a child has a particular form, but where it ends up is anybody’s guess. Imagination becomes tangible as hands mold the clay.

How can you open yourself to being molded by things greater than yourself today? What form will your spirit end up in?

First Lines

Sometimes, the hardest lines to write are the first ones–there is so much pressure on those first few words to bear the weight of everything that follows them. Sometimes, it is helpful just to get something down to take that pressure off of us.

Consider doing some writing today–make it a stream of consciousness that flows from deep within you. What do you notice in what you’ve written?

Possibility

The creative process allows beauty to unfold in mysterious ways from our imagination. The possibility of the beautiful flower is within the bud–it just needs to open.

What can you allow to unfold in your life today?

Blankness

The blank canvas, the blank paper, the blank mind–all are starting places for creativity. We require blank space and sometimes must work to make it so that creativity can happen.

How can you make blank space in your spirit or your life today?

Shaping God

“Despite it all, God is change. And despite how painful, this change is holy. As I repeat these words to myself, grounding myself in the divinity of this only lasting truth, more of Octavia [Butler]’s words come to me—’God exists to be shaped’—and I begin to work on shaping this change, reckoning with the knowledge that it is holy because it is mine to make. I am no longer a victim of change: I am creating shifting grounds. I am shaping the world that is to come, shaping God.”
-Martha Durkee-Neuman

How can you shape change to create a new vision of the holy today?
