Every Long Journey

how far - morguefile freeEvery journey, in whatever direction and whatever the distance, always starts out the same way. Wherever you are going and however you are going to get there, you first have to walk out the door. It may be that that first step over the threshold of the familiar is the hardest step of all.

What entices you to head out?

  1. Thanks for the various recent inspirations on the theme of the Journey. The thought of the “threshold” is particularly good – both entrance and exit. It is a good metaphor for a boundary and can define the very point of departure and promise as well as potential peril..

  2. Taking a “journey”, whether it be physical or mental, always has the promise of a change. Whether successful or not, it will give a person the opportunity to see life differently. Results vary but in the instance of taking a physical journey, stepping out promises, to me, that when I return, I will be a different person in the sense that I am incorporating what I have experienced and will in some way integrate it into my future life. I have noticed that because of international journeys that I have taken, I often refer to a comparison of situations there to people here and feel that in some way I am letting others understand better our global situation.
