Routemaster

It’s no small thing to captain a giant bus or truck through city streets, watching for hazards while navigating and staying on schedule. It is not unlike parenting multiple children, managing complex tasks or groups of people at work or engaging with volunteers who have a common goal but different ideas about how to get there. Amidst the chaos and near-misses you can only hope for moments of feeling like the “routemaster,” the one who has it all under control. If only for this moment.

When have you found satisfaction in navigating something complex?

  1. I spent some time helping my Mom get through the end of her life at home. With the assistance of others sometimes, We were able to keep her safe and as comfortable as possible. This required communication and coordination among us as well as leaving schedules for those to carry out responsibilities when I wasn’t at home. It was a complex situation that turned out well.
