Have a seat. Just rest for a moment and have a look around at the trees and the hills that stretch out before you.

Which calls to you more at the moment—the chance to rest in beauty or the drive to find out what lies beyond the distant hills?

Sometimes what is most special and unique in our lives becomes that way only through our choosing. Whether a beloved dog or a spiritual practice, things become precious not just from who or what they are, but also because of our act of choosing, our decision to give ourselves over time to what we have chosen.

Who or what have you chosen to make precious in your life?

A ski lift on the ground looks like a UFO. Or a USO—an Unidentified Sitting Object. Living where we feel we belong, where we feel of use, is a big part of how we know who we are.

Where do you feel at home, and of use?

“Good fences make good neighbors,” wrote Robert Frost, but he didn’t mean it. Sometimes the best boundaries are ones that are clear, but not too hard to get through.

What boundaries have you created in life which allow you both the connection and the privacy you need?
