In the Room

Even a room that seems empty can be full—of history, of stories, of the presence of those who leave their mark whether they are known by name or not. Truly, we are never alone.

Whose presence do you notice when you are alone?

  1. I feel the presence of God much more keenly when I am alone in the quiet late night hours. I feel it like I’d feel warmth.

Also, my beloved pet, a guinea pig named Kirby, gets more “talkative” and interacts with me more when it’s just me around. He’s mostly silent when my husband or anyone else is around.

  2. Much of the time I feel the presence of those I’ve known who have died. This would be close friends or family members. Things I remember about them or comments I would like to make to them hang in the air sometimes until I remember that I can’t communicate with them that way anymore. However, I do believe that as long as one who is gone is remembered by someone, they are still living in spirit with us. I remember the sayings and the loving times that happened with them.
