Stuck in Traffic

stuck in traffic - morguefile freeFew things are more frustrating than having somewhere you are eager to go or somewhere that you absolutely need to be and finding yourself stuck in traffic, blocked in by hundreds or thousands of people who all have their own agenda about where they need or want to be.

How do you respond to people who feel like obstacles on your journey?

  1. When frustrated about an interference in a plan that is interrupted by others, I consider that they too are “in the same boat” as I am. If I find someone who appears to be willing to answer back, I will make some kind of remark that should bring a smile or a laugh. However, if I find that I have approached the wrong person (a frown appears), I let it go quickly. No reason is there to pursue the matter with someone who doesn’t feel the way I do; I can accept that there is something that I cannot change. If I can notify my destination abut the delay, I will do so; otherwise I’ll sit back and relax and perhaps write a mental Haiku!

  2. The “being stuck in traffic” imagery simply doesn’t resonate with me, since I pedal right past that long line of stalled cars in my dedicated bicycle lane.
